Muniba Mazari is a role model and source of inspiration for anyone who knows her story. If her story has taught us anything, it’s that limitations are just an illusion in our minds.

For all those who have not been fortunate enough to know her story, let me share it with you.

Muniba Mazari is a Pakistani artist born on 3 March 1987. In the year 2007, when she was just 21 years old, her life took an ugly turn. She met with a tragic accident which would result in her entire lower body paralysis. She had to stay in the hospital for the entire 2 years. Her husband who was supposed to be standing by her side in this situation cowardly backed out and married someone else. She did not just lose her ability to walk, but she also lost the ability to give birth. This news completely left her devastated. She even started questioning her existence in this world.

But she was not among the ones who would give up to these life obstacles. When doctors told her that she would be unable to walk, paint, or give birth; “That day I decided that I’m going to live life for myself. I am not going to be that perfect person for someone. I am just going to take this moment and I will make it perfect for myself, that I’m going to fight my fears. You know, when you end up being in the wheelchair, what’s the most painful thing? People think that they will not be accepted by the people because we in the world perfect people are imperfects. So I decided to appear more in public,” she said.

I don’t know how my story will end, but nowhere in my text you’ll ever read ‘i gave up’!

She started painting as a medium to deal with her emotions while she was in the hospital. Colors were one way to bring joy back into her life. With the slogan, Let Your Walls Wear Colors, she created her own art brand called Muniba’s Canvas.

Her story was an inspiration for everybody and so she started to come more in public and motivate people to really appreciate their life.

To me, she is a superwoman. Most people just give up when they encounter the first smallest hurdle in their life. We waste our life worried about the future while we are not even sure if we will get that future. If anything doesn’t go as planned we drop it immediately. But this lady taught us that no hurdle is greater than our willpower. If she can smile today after what happened in her past, then I guess everyone can. If she doesn’t whine about how unfair life is, then we can stop too.
